Move For Hunger Food Drive

Barefoot is starting a partnership with a native New Jersey organization! Starting Wednesday, June 28th to next Wednesday, July 5th we will be accepting canned goods, pasta, peanut butter, jelly, rice and other non-perishable items at the store. We are working with the organization Move For Hunger, founded in 2009 by Adam Lowy. Move For Hunger raises money and collects food for 36 states all over America. Adam grew up with a family moving business and through this he saw how much food was wasted in the process of moving. He realized that he could be doing so much more with his career and really starting to cure the problem of hunger through his family’s business.

According to Move For Hunger’s website, 42 million Americans do not know where their next meal is going to come from and 1 in 6 American children do not have enough to eat. One of move for Hunger’s biggest messages is that the people we are trying to help are not only impoverished children and families but friends, neighbors and other family members that could have lost their job or are simply feeling the hardships of today’s economy.

With Move For Hunger, Barefoot would love locals and visitors to come swing by during store hours and bring canned goods and other non-perishable items to our store. The amount of people Move For Hunger has already helped is amazing and we would love to take a part in continuing their success. Stop by and give back this holiday weekend!
